LOST: The Final Episode – Afterthoughts

WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD. Please do not continue to read if you are planning on watching this final episode.

Well, it is finally over. 6 years, 6 seasons. 4.5 hours + the Jimmy Kimmel Live tribute. At first, I was slightly disappointed on how the show ended. Then I let the thoughts and presentation simmer for a bit. It was a great way to end the show. There is a lot of buzz on the internet and talk about this final episode. Many hate how they ended it. Many loved how they ended it. Many were content how they ended it. After a few hours of thinking and processing it, I liked how they did it.

The producers/writers are not going to spoon feed you all the answers. No, that would make it boring. The great part of this show is the characters, the stories they had, and how they told it. The journey of their lives while they were with each other.  The “flash sideways” was their purgatory.  Their space to find each other again so they can move on.  The island lived on as Hurley and Ben protected it as long as they can.  This was epic, and I am sad to see it all end.  What will I watch on TV now?

I’d have to say I haven’t been such a total nerd about a show/movie since Star Wars.  I’ve been to Comic Con LOST Panels, and attended all their interviews live with cast members and their producers.  Last year, I camped out overnight in San Diego Convention Center’s lawn with hundreds of other fans just to get a seat to see the final panel at Comic Con.  It was great.  Thank you LOST for the past 6 years.  It was a great journey, a great story, and most of all, a great program that made that one weeknight the better.
